Multidisciplinary Approaches in Language Policy and Planning Conference 2012
The organizing committee of the Conference invites papers that approach language policy from a variety of theoretical and methodological perspectives, and in a variety of contexts, from the local/institutional to national/global. We invite abstracts for papers in any of the following areas:

12th CercleS Conference 2012 on language teaching
The LSE Language Centre will be hosting the 12th CercleS Conference. The Conference will bring together teachers and researchers from Language Centres, Departments, Institutions, Faculties and Schools in higher education whose main responsibility is the teaching of language. The general theme of the Conference is: University Language Centres: Going for Gold – Overcoming Hurdles.
This CercleS conference will be an occasion to celebrate 20 years of collaboration between its 300 member institutions that regularly meet to share experiences in language teaching and to discuss innovative ways of promoting language education throughout Europe. The conference will cover a wide range of topics of interest to anyone working in the field.

Langues en mouvement : didactique des langues et pratiques artistiques
Comme l'attestent quelques manifestations et publications récentes, nous assistons à l’émergence de pratiques innovantes qui intègrent l’expérience esthétique et les pratiques artistiques à la didactique des langues. Ces pratiques s’organisent le plus souvent autour de collaborations entre artistes, linguistes, didacticiens et littéraires. Au delà d'un nécessaire état des lieux, ce colloque international vise à examiner ces pratiques dans des contextes culturels et institutionnels variés, à préciser leurs assises théoriques et méthodologiques, à établir des éléments de comparaisons avec des pratiques similaires dans d’autres pays, et à faire le point sur leurs évolutions.

EuroSLA22 - 22nd Annual Conference of the European Second Language Association
The conference theme is “Expanding discipline boundaries”. We would like to focus on how research in second language acquisition connects with research conducted in other fields. We welcome proposals for papers, posters, and thematic colloquia from all areas of second language acquisition research. Paper and poster proposals should not have been previously published. Each author may submit no more than one individual and one co-authored abstract. All submissions will be reviewed anonymously by the scientific committee and evaluated in terms of originality, clarity, and significance of findings and conclusions. |

Languages in the Globalised World (LGW)
The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for teachers and researchers who are interested in the exploration and exchange of research findings, experience and perspectives in language teaching, language learning and language skills development. The conference is also expected to be an international platform for the discussion of the usefulness of multilingual literacy and multicultural competence in a globalised world.
It will bring together academics, teacher trainers, materials development experts and students concerned with foreign, second or third language acquisition in a multilingual environment. The conference will consist of plenary sessions run by eminent guest speakers of a professorial rank, one roundtable discussion and paper presentations of 20 minutes or posters, which have been divided into six thematic areas. We welcome abstracts of articles studying any language, spoken in any country in the world, including minority and endangered languages. Plenary speakers are Professor Angela Creese of the University of Birmingham, UK, Professor Michael McCarthy, University of Nottingham, UK and Professor Myriam Salama-Carr of the University of Salford, UK.

Colloque didactique des langues
Le thème de ce colloque est le suivant: mutations en contexte dans la didactique des langues : le cas de l’approche plurilingue, pluriculturelle et de la perspective actionnelle. Un peu plus de 10 ans après la parution du Cadre européen de référence pour les langues (CECRL), au lendemain de l’émergence dans les universités de masters d’enseignement et de la parution du Cadre de référence pour les approches plurielles (CARAP), qui entend développer « de façon concrète la conception de la compétence plurilingue et pluriculturelle promue par le Conseil de l’Europe », ce colloque propose de revenir sur la mise en œuvre de l’approche retenue par les auteurs du CECRL. |

Urban Language Seminar 10: Managing Linguistic Diversities
The Urban Language Seminars are yearly symposia organised by the network on Industrialization, Language Contact and Identity Formation in China and Europe (ILCI). The 10th edition will take place in Utrecht (The Netherlands). The central theme of the workshop, managing linguistic diversities, will be approached from three perspectives:. (1) society: language planning, regional distribution of languages and language varieties, and their use in (early) educational settings; (2) (urban) speech community: language variation and change in large urban centers, group vs. individual identity, and language choice patterns; (3) individual: study of 1st and 2nd language acquisition, acquisition of variation, identity formation.
