Intercultural dimensions of language will be foregrounded in the discussions. A key anticipated outcome of the event will be the impact on policy at institutional, national or Commonwealth levels with specific reference to internationalisation strategies in the university/tertiary sector.

-              Meertaligheid en tweede-/vreemdetaalverwerving (inclusief receptieve meertaligheid);
-              Meertaligheid en tweede-/vreemdetaaldidactiek en -onderwijs;
-              Meertaligheid en vertalen, tolken, terminologie, vaktalen;
-              Meertaligheid en taalbeleid.

Discourse of Identity

Discourses frame identity, that is, linguistic processes and other strategies embedded in social practices shape the way individuals and groups (re)create themselves. Language and society are central to identity formation and expression. Our aim is to turn to a multi- and inter- disciplinary approach from fields such as linguistics, literature, sociology, psychology, history, and gender studies, among others, in order to render a comprehensive analysis of this complex issue – the drama of identity.

I think that I'm very lucky to have learnt three languages as a child, because it means that I know three languages equally well -- and that I can change between them. It's a gift for me.
